How to Removal and Install Car Stereo

1.1) Set parking brake, shift to lower gear, remove one terminal from car battery.

Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 2.1) At center of dash at AC vents, remove one screw from vent assembly.
How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 3.1) Gently pry back edge of vent assembly from dash.
Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 4.1) Grasp back edge of vent assembly and pull back from dash, remove vent assembly and set to side.
How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 5.1) Remove one T-15 torx screw exposed on right of AC vent assembly.
Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 6.1) Remove one T-15 torx screw exposed on left of AC vent assembly.
How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 7.1) At right end of dash, gently pry edge of side panel from dash releasing clips. All clips release with pressure.
Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 8.1) Grasp edge of side panel and pull back from dash releasing front clips, remove panel and set to side.
How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 9.1) Remove one exposed screw from side cover removal.
Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 10.1) Open glove box.

Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 12.1) Remove one screw in glove box opening below left side of right AC vent.

Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 16.1) At left end of dash, gently pry edge of side panel from dash releasing clips.
How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 17.1) Grasp edge of side panel and pull back from dash releasing front clips.
Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 18.1) Remove panel and set to side.
How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 19.1) Remove one exposed screw from side cover removal.
Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 20.1) Lift upper dash panel up releasing clips.
How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 21.1) Work across front edge of upper dash panel releasing clips.
Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 22.1) Lift right side of dash trim panel releasing clips.

Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 24.1) Remove front dash trim panel and set to side.
How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 25.1) Behind edge of front dash panel above gauges on left, remove one exposed screw.
Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 26.1) Behind edge of front dash panel above gauges on right, remove one exposed screw.
How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 27.1) Behind edge of front dash panel on right, remove one exposed screw.
Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 28.1) Gently pry bottom right of front dash trim panel from dash releasing clips.
How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 29.1) Work along bottom of front dash trim panel releasing clips.
Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 30.1) Work along bottom of front dash trim panel below cigarette lighter releasing clips.
How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 31.1) Work across front dash trim panel along bottom of gauges releasing clips.
Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 32.1) Work across front dash trim panel to AC vent on left side of dash releasing clips.
How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 33.1) Reach behind edge of front dash panel at cigarette lighter assembly.
Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 34.1) Locate trigger on connector to release and remove.

Note - To release connectors, triggers are located at center of connectors. Squeeze trigger into connector to release and remove.

How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 35.1) When lifting right side of front dash trim panel up, be sure lower part of panel below front gauges is pulled back to clear over odometer reset shaft on gauges. Rest right side of dash on steering wheel.

Note - You may release triggers on connectors at head light assembly and remove entire front dash panel.

Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 36.1) Remove mounting screws left side of car stereo.

Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 38.1) Pull car stereo slightly from dash for access to back of car stereo.
How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 39.1) Remove antenna jack from back of car stereo.
Removing Stereos, Replacing and Installing 40.1) Release trigger on bottom of main car stereo connector to remove.
How to Replace Cavalier Car Stereo, Remove and Install 41.1) Remove car stereo.

How to Remove and Replace Front Speaker

Speaker Removal, Installation and Replacement 1.1) Remove two screws from door handle pull.
How to Replace Speakers, Installation and Removal 2.1) Remove one screw from panel and remove panel.
Speaker Removal, Installation and Replacement 3.1) Remove screws along back edge of door panel.
How to Replace Speakers, Installation and Removal 4.1) Remove screws along bottom edge of door panel.
Speaker Removal, Installation and Replacement 5.1) Use a rag to unlock window handle locking clip.
How to Replace Speakers, Installation and Removal 6.1) Remove clip and handle. (Notice clip is released and remove)
6.2) Caution! They will spring from site.
6.3) Immediately install clip onto window crank, it will lock into place when reinstalling.
Speaker Removal, Installation and Replacement 7.1) Remove panel by releasing six clips, start at bottom and work up both sides.
7.2) Lift door panel up out of window jam.

4" X 6" speaker to door, remove connector.

How to Remove and Replace Rear Speakers

Installing Speakers, Remove and Install 1.1) Release rear seats to down position.
2.2) Start at top edge of side panel, pull to release clips along back edge of panel.
How to Replace Speakers, Installation and Removal 3.1) Gently pull on side panel releasing clips.
3.2) Lift bottom of side panel up to release bottom of panel.
Installing Speakers, Remove and Install 4.1) Release same side panel from above door opening from behind forward panel.
How to Replace Speakers, Installation and Removal 5.1) Gently pry panel pin from along leading edge of side rear panels.
Installing Speakers, Remove and Install 6.1) Release clip and guide pin at top edge of side panel.
How to Replace Speakers, Installation and Removal 7.1) Pull side panel up to release from bottom panel along door edge opening and remove panel.
Installing Speakers, Remove and Install 8.1) Gently pull cover from rear deck for child seat belt securing clip.

Installing Speakers, Remove and Install 10.1) Guide rear seat belt straps through openings in rear panel.

Installing Speakers, Remove and Install 12.1) Remove screws securing rear speakers to rear deck.

Installing Speakers, Remove and Install 16.1) Splice speaker wires onto factory wires by cutting factory connector.

NOTE - See speaker wire color codes below for correct speaker phasing.

IMPORTANT - There are two (2) yellow*, two (2) gray and two (2) brown wires in this harness. Locate the +12 volt constant wire first. Label it or splice to constant wire on aftermarket stereo first. Swapping yellow wires will cause damage to any aftermarket stereo. Check fuses if your unable to find +12 volts.
