Car Stereo and CD Removal and Install
   
1.1) Open drink holder.
   
2.1) Adjust steering column to full down position.
   
3.1) Set Parking Brake and shift to low gear.
   
4.1) Pull top left edge of front dash panel from dash releasing clips. All clips release with pry/pull pressure.
   
5.1) Work across top of dash panel releasing all clips.
   

6.1) Left side of steering column, pull front dash panel from dash releasing clips.

   
7.1) Use caution when working around Emergency Flasher Switch. Pressure against button may break switch assembly.
   
8.1) For next step, hold bottom of front dash panel so it will not apply pressure to side of Emergency Flasher Switch.
   
9.1) Pull top edge of dash panel away from dash to release top edge from gauge assembly.
   
10.1) Again, use caution at Emergency Flasher Switch Assembly.
   
11.1) Pull panel up to release from Emergency Flasher Switch Assembly..
   
12.1) Lift right side of dash panel up.
   

13.1) Squeeze trigger on connector to release left side of dash panel.

NOTE - Is you choose not to disconnect connector, allow dash panel to rest on steering wheel for access to car stereo.

   
14.1) Car stereo may be mounted one of two ways
  • Push clips down on each side of car stereo to release and remove from dash
  • Remove mounting screws on each side of car stereo to release and remove from dash

14.2) Remove, squeeze trigger on connector to release and remove.
14.3) Grasp antenna lead and pull to remove.

   
15.1) CD player may be mounted one of two ways
  • Push clips down on each side of car stereo to release and remove from dash
  • Remove mounting screws on each side of car stereo to release and remove from dash

15.2) Remove, squeeze trigger on connector to release and remove.

This section aids in troubleshooting and determining wire color codes, phasing for speaker hook up, locating power wires for installing external devices and add-ons.

1978 - 1992
IMPORTANT - There are two (2) yellow*, two (2) gray and two (2) brown wires in this harness. Locate the +12 volt constant wire first. Label it or splice to constant wire on aftermarket stereo first. Swapping yellow wires will cause damage to any aftermarket stereo. Check fuses if your unable to find +12 volts.
