How to Remove and Replace Car Stereo

Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 1.1) Gently pry right side of dash trim panel releasing clips.

NOTE - All clips release with pry pressure.

How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 2.1) Pry along top of dash trim panel releasing clips.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 3.1) Pry along top of dash trim panel releasing clips.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 4.1) Pry down along left of dash trim panel releasing clips.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 5.1) Pry along bottom left of dash trim panel releasing clips.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 6.1) Pry along bottom right of dash trim panel releasing clips.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 7.1) Pry along bottom right of dash trim panel releasing clips.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 8.1) Continue to pry along bottom right of dash trim panel releasing clips.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 9.1) Pull panel slightly from dash above steering column, verifying clips are released.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 10.1) Pull panel slightly from dash along top edge of panel, verifying all clips are released.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 11.1) Pull left side of dash trim panel away from dash for access to connectors.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 12.1) Release trigger on first connector. Trigger squeezes into connector to release and remove.

NOTE - There are several types of triggers for the connectors in this vehicle. Triggers may squeeze into the connector to release or triggers may need to be lifted to release connector.

Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 13.1) Squeeze trigger on second connector into connector to release and remove. Left side of dash trim panel has been released.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 14.1) Pull right side of dash trim panel away from dash for access to connectors.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 15.1) Gently pry small panel from dash trim panel releasing clips.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 16.1) Pull panel from dash.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 17.1) Access connectors at panel.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 18.1) Release trigger on connector at Power Point and remove.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 19.1) Release trigger on second connector and remove.

NOTE - Depending on features on your vehicle, small panel left of car stereo may also have connectors. Pry panel to remove and release connectors.

How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 20.1) Pull right side of dash trim panel forward for access to connectors at AC controls.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 21.1) Locate first connector on right at AC controls.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 22.1) Lift trigger at side of connector.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 23.1) Release connector and remove.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 24.1) Locate vacuum hose connector.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 25.1) Vacuum hose connector has two triggers, one top and bottom.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 26.1) Pull both triggers away from connector to release.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 27.1) Remove vacuum hose connector.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 28.1) Pull panel forward for access to next connectors. As connectors are remove, this allows more access to the next connectors.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 29.1) Release trigger on next connector to remove.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 30.1) Release trigger on next connector to remove.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 31.1) Release trigger on next connector to remove.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 32.1) Release triggers on any remaining connectors to remove.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 33.1) Set Parking Brake.
33.2) Shift to low gear.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 34.1) When removing panel in the following steps, watch clearance of dash trim panel over hear shifter.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 35.1) Grasp right side of dash trim panel.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 36.1) Lift right side of dash trim panel up followed by lifting right side of dash panel up.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 37.1) Remove dash trim panel up over steering wheel and set panel to side.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 38.1) Remove two 7 mm mounting screws left side of car stereo.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 39.1) Remove two 7 mm mounting screws right side of car stereo.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 40.1) Pull car stereo from dash for access to connectors.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 41.1) Grasp base of antenna connector.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 42.1) Pull antenna connector from car stereo.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 43.1) Release trigger on main connector.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 44.1) Remove connector.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 45.1) Remove car stereo.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 46.1) When reinstalling small panel. Dash trim panel should be connected and installed first, be sure all connectors for these small panels are accessible and not pinched in dash.
46.2) Connect all connectors.
Replacing Speakers, Remove and Install 47.1) Place bottom edge of panel into dash trim panel.
How To Remove Car Stereo, Replace and Install 48.1) Push top of panel in to snap into place.
