How to Replace, Remove and Install Speakers

Scion xB How to Remove and Install Front Speakers

Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 1.1) Remove one screw from door open handle cavity.
How to Replace, Remove and Install Speakers 2.1) Remove one screw from door hand hold cavity.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 3.1) At front edge of door panel, push center pin on panel clip in 1/4 inch to release.
How to Replace, Remove and Install Speakers 4.1)  Pry or pull panel clip from door panel to remove.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 5.1) To reinstall this panel clip, push center pin back through base 1/4 inch. Push clip into opening on door panel then push center pin in, flush with base of clip to lock in place.
How to Replace, Remove and Install Speakers 6.1) Gently pry leading edge of control panel from arm rest to release clip.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 7.1) Pull leading edge of control panel up.
How to Replace, Remove and Install Speakers 8.1) Pull control panel forward to release rear tab from door panel.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 9.1) Remove control panel from door panel.
How to Replace, Remove and Install Speakers 10.1) Release trigger on side of connector to disconnect.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 11.1) To reinstall connector onto control panel, first release clip on side of connector.
How to Replace, Remove and Install Speakers 12.1) Outer connector sleeve will release and slide back from base of connector.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 13.1) Push connector into control panel.
How to Replace, Remove and Install Speakers 14.1) Push outer sleeve into connector to lock in place.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 15.1) Gently pry upper edge of small trim panel at top of door panel to release clip.
How to Replace, Remove and Install Speakers 16.1) Remove panel and set to side.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 17.1) Gently pry rear bottom edge of door panel from door to release clips.
How to Replace, Remove and Install Speakers 18.1) Work along bottom of door panel and up front and rear edges to release all clips.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 19.1) Pull bottom edge of door panel away from door.
How to Replace, Remove and Install Speakers 20.1) With bottom edge of door panel away from door, be sure door panel will clear over door open handle for next steps.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 21.1) Lift back edge of door panel up out of window jam followed by front edge of door panel, set pane to side.
How to Replace, Remove and Install Speakers 22.1) Check door for any remaining door panel clips.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 23.1) Pry remaining door panel clips from door.
How to Replace, Remove and Install Speakers 24.1) Slide clip into opening on door panel ready for reinstallation.
Replacing, Removing and Installing Speakers 25.1) Remove connector from speaker.

NOTE - Print these instructions! Speaker is riveted to door. For aftermarket replacement you will need to drill rivets and order spacer rings for installing new speakers.

How to Remove, Replace and Install Speakers 1.1) Release rear seat and push forward.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 2.1) Twist rear deck lock to release.
How to Remove, Replace and Install Speakers 3.1) Twist remaining rear deck locks to release.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 4.1) Remove right side rear deck cover.
How to Remove, Replace and Install Speakers 5.1) Remove left side rear deck cover.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 6.1) Remove Styrofoam insert from right side.
How to Remove, Replace and Install Speakers 7.1) Remove spare tire from left side.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 8.1) Remove Styrofoam insert from left side.
How to Remove, Replace and Install Speakers 9.1) Remove center tab on left clip along back edge of rear trim panel and remove clip.
How to Remove, Replace and Install Speakers 10.1) Remove center tab on right clip along back edge of rear trim panel and remove clip.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 11.1) Pry rear trim panel up to release clips.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 12.1) Work your way across panel releasing clips and remove panel.
How to Remove, Replace and Install Speakers 13.1) Open screw cover and remove 5/16 Allen bolt.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 14.1) Open second screw cover and remove 5/16 Allen bolt.
How to Remove, Replace and Install Speakers 15.1) Remove side cover. This opening can be used in later steps for a hand to help pull panel from side of vehicle.
How to Remove, Replace and Install Speakers 16.1) From rear door, pry panel up to release clips.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 17.1) Remove panel and set to side. Removal of this panel will give several extra inches in later steps for speaker removal.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 18.1) From rear of vehicle, use finger hole or larger hole in panel from cover removal in earlier step to pull side panel from vehicle.
How to Remove, Replace and Install Speakers 19.1) Work you way up edge of panel releasing clips.
Speaker Replacement, Removal and Install 20.1) Release all clips along edge of panel.
How to Remove, Replace and Install Speakers 21.1) From rear door, work your way across top of panel releasing clips.

22.1) From back of vehicle, pull side panel back for access to speaker and remove.
